Isolation of Bartonella schoenbuchensis from Lipoptena cervi, a blood-sucking arthropod causing deer ked dermatitis.Dehio C, Sauder U, Hiestand R Division of Molecular Microbiology, Biozentrum of the University of Basel, Klingelbergstr. 70, CH-4056 Basel, Switzerland. christoph.dehio@unibas.ch Bartonella schoenbuchensis, which commonly causes bacteremia in ruminants, was isolated from the deer ked Lipoptena cervi and was shown to localize to the midgut of this blood-sucking arthropod, causing deer ked dermatitis in humans.
